Mission San Diego de Alcala was the first misson built in California along the El Camino Real.  It was founded in 1769 and is still an active Catholic parish.

I had to do some exposure tweaks in Photoshop Elements on this one as I forgot to adjust my ISO setting when I left taking shots in a shadowy area.  Luckily I had the presence of mind to at least have the camera set on “P” mode so it optimized the shot as much as possible.

The interior of the Pantheon is a work of art.  I love how the direct sunlight coming through the oculus at the top highlights the lines and color of the marble architecture.  This was one of my favorite surprises in Rome.

I was so distracted taking photos of the minnows along the shoreline of the San Diego River that I missed seeing this tern fishing.  Once I heard him hit the water, I only had time to fire off a quick shot of him on his getaway.  Not the most elegant shot, but I loved how the blur gives you that high speed “action” feel.

We have three large potted geraniums in the backyard that produce the most beautiful pink blossoms each year.  I love how the direct sunlight makes the petals look coated with fine glitter.
